In October 2022 it finally happened! I started my journey into coaching and have earned my first certificate on an ambitious path towards an ICF accreditation. Keep reading to learn more about the meaning of all this!
What Is Coaching?
The communication between coach and client is one of the most interesting forms I have ever stumbled upon. Also, as a coach the hardest.
Coaching is a form of facilitation in which the coach helps the client find their own resources and wisdom to create some type of desired change. I say change loosely, because this could mean actual change, improvement of what is, removal of what does not work anymore, or introduction of new into one’s life.
By asking questions the coach partners with their client in discovering answers already existing or newly found. These come from the client only, as the coach has no opinions, suggestions or advice to give. If opinions are called for, the potential client should search for a consultant instead.
A coaching session is a safe space in which mutual trust can grow and confidentiality exists from start to finish. It is for the client, meaning the coach talks about 20 % at the most.
Coaching is not for everyone at all times, but if you could use a sounding board to help you untie knots, view things differently, explore something new, or simply get to know yourself better, a coach can accelerate your progress by acting as a catalyst of sorts.
My Coaching Journey
There are a lot of coaches out there, who have no certifications. I want what is best for both coach and client by learning and applying ethical coaching skills, so in October this year I got my first certificate: Certified Professional Life Coach, CPLC. On this website I will use its form CLC, and elsewhere (for business purposes) CPC.
In early 2023 I will take the second part of my training, which is part of the requirements when applying for the Associate Certified Coach, ACC, credentials by the International Coaching Federation.
In October it was hinted during the first training that the European Union will start regulating the coaching industry. This is more than welcome news, as anyone can wake up one morning and decide to call themselves a coach.

Wrapping Up
In today’s hectic world, it isn’t uncommon to find that there aren’t many people, who show up for us completely in a particular moment. Or when they do that, they bring along their own wishes on your behalf, which may or may not differ from your own ideas.
A coach per definition has no opinions on what you “should” do, but is there for you on your terms: your situation, your progress, your life. It is a moment for you alone, undisturbed and in complete focus.
I would be happy to work with you if there is a fit, and would love to ask various questions to help you clarify what your own path should be about, whilst turning off the outside world with all its requests and demands on your attention.
